Amelia Hall

Greetings! I am a Lecturer in Humanities at Augusta University. I received my PhD from Cornell University in May 2020, and specialize in British literature of the long nineteenth century. My current book project, Epigraphic Encounters and the Origins of the English Novel, uncovers the crucial role that chapter epigraphs played in the evolution of the English novel’s form and develops a new theory for reading this structurally significant paratext. More broadly, my research and teaching explore Romantic, Victorian and Decadent literature; the history and theory of the novel; formalism; digital humanities; science and literature; and art and illustration.

My research appears in SEL Studies in English Literature, Volupté: Interdisciplinary Journal of Decadence Studies, WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship, and the Journal of Theta Alpha Kappa.
